This volume presents my location recordings of authentic choir and vocal shouts, chants and polyrhythmic percussion ensemble grooves from the Maasai, Kikuyu, Meru, Polkot and Nandi peoples – the result of a two week music competition among schools across Kenya. The competition has been running since 1925, with the only break coming during the covid pandemic. The volume also includes sounds I gathered on a two week trip across the Serengeti with wildlife photographer Gerry Ellis. The first volume in this set features sounds from Hans Zimmer’s Lion King soundtrack. Both volumes are organized into construction kit format and virtual instruments created from the extensive location recordings. The entire collection has been migrated from Spectrasonics’ original standalone CD ROM format to their award-winning virtual instrument plugin, Omnisphere.
