This is the original brief – not that we would need to follow it. We could do more of a Hip Hop influence or…whatever:
Sitar Hip Hop
The goal here is to incorporate Hip Hop beats with classical Indian music featuring the sitar, sarod, sarangi, tanpura, tabla, mridangam, and dholak.
WHAT I’M NOT LOOKING FOR are Hip Hop beats with the occasional sitar thrown in to give it an Indian feel. The emphasis is on the true Indian music supported by Hip Hop elements.
The first example is the closest to representing what we’re going for instrument-wise, but I’d prefer the Indian elements to adhere to more of the classical style of music. The remaining examples are typical classical Indian pieces.
